The Ravens have signed rookie offensive tackle D.J. Jones to the 53-man active roster to fill the spot vacated by kick returner David Reed, who suffered an isolated ACL tear in Saturday’s win over Cleveland.

Jones, from Nebraska, has been on the Ravens practice squad since Oct. 19.

At this point it is unclear what role Jones will play on the active roster because Reed was a return man and also played on special teams coverage.

The Ravens offensive line is slightly hobbled because right guard Marshal Yanda has rib and thigh contusions, so Jones will likely serve as a backup lineman.

Jones opened the season on the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad but was waived by Miami on Oct. 18.

To take Jones’ place on the practice squad, the Ravens signed second-year wide receiver Patrick Williams. He was most recently on Seattle’s practice squad and has also spent time with the Green Bay Packers.
