Head Coach John Harbaugh was uncertain if the Ravens were interested in signing recently-released quarterback David Garrard, but is sure the club is comfortable with Tyrod Taylor as Joe Flacco’s top backup.

Gararrd was released Tuesday by the Jacksonville Jaguars, which immediately prompted speculation whether the Ravens would add the veteran as a backup.

While not ruling out any future roster moves, Harbaugh expressed his confidence in the sixth-round draft pick.

“Tyrod is our backup quarterback,” said Harbaugh. “Look at the roster. We never rule out any moves. You’ve asked me that question before about other guys. We’re always looking for ways to make our team better.

“But, I sure like Tyrod as a football player. He had a heck of a preseason. If he goes into a game to play quarterback, that opponent is going to have their hands full.”

Asked whether the Ravens had interest in Garrard, Harbaugh said he didn’t know.

“We had practice today and meetings, so I haven’t been involved in any of that,” Harbaugh said before Wednesday’s session.

At this point, the Ravens have hitched the backup cart to Taylor, an athletic rookie who acquitted himself well during the preseason.

Taylor completed 61.7 percent of his passes for 408 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions through parts of four games. He also rushed 11 times for 106 yards and a score.
