Ravens Get Down To 53

The Ravens let Tavares Gooden and a number of other players go at the NFL’s cut deadline.

When the Ravens selected linebacker Tavares Gooden in the third round of the 2008 draft, they talked about a player who could potentially follow in the footsteps of fellow University of Miami alumnus Ray Lewis.

On Saturday, Gooden was part of the Ravens’ list of released players.

Every team across the NFL had to reach their 53-man limit for rosters by Saturday at 6 p.m..

The Ravens officially released 26 men, and then assigned offensive tackle Ramon Harewood to injured reserve with an ankle injury.

The contract of linebacker Prescott Burgess was terminated, as well.

The Ravens now have to make an eight-man practice squad over the followign 24 hours to take into the regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
