While everyone awaits an end to the labor negotiations between NFL owners and players, it seems that it won’t happen over the weekend.
According to ESPN, the NFL Players Association sent an email to inform players that the group of union leaders would be meeting on Monday to discuss their next steps.
Here is the entire text of the email:
“Guys, to keep you abreast of the latest developments, we are reviewing the latest proposal for a settlement. Because of the passing of Myra Kraft in Boston, the NFLPA will not be making any public statements in honor of the Kraft family.
“Our recommendation is for everyone to stay put and keep doing what you are doing where you are doing it. We will meet again Monday to discuss our options and the direction we want to go. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. – Your player reps”
After Thursday’s ratification of a settlement by the owners, the league had issued a schedule that would have opened team facilities on Saturday and allowed clubs to begin training camp on Wednesday, along with the start of free agency.
Instead players continue mulling the “finishing details” of the agreement.
