Get your earplugs out, Baltimore.

For the first time ever, the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam will roar into M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday, July 9.

See eight-time World Champion Tom Meents and his truck, Maximum Destruction, and others perform in both racing and high-flying freestyle events before your very eyes.

Believe me, this is a very cool event – regardless of your age.

“This is a beautiful facility here, great field; it’s going to be a great event here at M&T Bank Stadium,” said Meents, who is the only driver to ever pull off a complete back flip during an event.

“I can’t wait to get out there and show off Maximum Destruction, get some big air, do some donuts and put on a great show for all the family fans.”

Monster Jam management will double the number of monster trucks at the event and crush more than 40 cars. At least 4,200 tons of dirt will be poured into the stadium to construct the track.

You can also meet the drivers and trucks at the free outdoor Party In The Pits, located in Lot C of the stadium. Starting at 2:30 p.m., you can get autographs from the drivers and see the enormous trucks up close.

As a preview, Maximum Destruction stands 10 feet tall with 5-foot tires and a 1,500-horsepower engine. Get a look at it in this Baltimore Sun video.

Tickets went on sale to the general public today at 10 a.m. They can be purchased via Ticketmaster by phone (410-547-7328 or 800-551-7328), online or at the M&T Bank Stadium Box Office.

Tickets for kids (ages 3-12) are just $10 and children ages 2 and under are free.

There have been other monster truck events in Baltimore, including Monster Jam Freestyle Mania, AMA Arenacross series and most recently the explosive Nuclear Cowboyz Freestyle Chaos tour. But none have been at open-air M&T Bank Stadium.

The upgrades at the stadium have made it a premier location to hosts such events. M&T Bank Stadium will also play host to the 2011 Men’s Lacrosse Championships and U2 360 Tour this spring and summer. Find more information and tickets online.
