For the second consecutive month, a Ravens defender won an NFL honor, as safety Ed Reed was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for December/January.

In November, that award went to linebacker Terrell Suggs.

Reed has been pivotal in the Ravens’ closing out their 2010 campaign on a four-game winning streak.  Baltimore was 4-1 in December/January.

For the month, Reed registered 22 tackles and four interceptions.  He recorded two interceptions in both Week 16 and Week 17, closing out his season with an NFL-leading eight picks.

Reed last won the Player of the Month award in December of 2008.  This honor is the third of his nine-year career.
