Following his second consecutive Pro Bowl campaign, Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player by local media, while cornerback Chris Carr earned the coveted Media Good Guy award.

Ngata was one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the NFL this year. Not only was he second on the Ravens with 5 ½ sacks, he was also sixth in tackles (65) despite facing double- and triple-teams for most of the season.

“That’s pretty cool,” Ngata said to reporters when given his award. “Thank you, guys. I felt like this year has been a little bit different with my pass rush. I feel like I got a little better there, and hopefully I can continue to improve in that game and just get better.

“Hopefully, I can be around Baltimore because I love being here, I love the guys here, and not you guys as much (laughter), but I love the fans (laughter). Thank you, guys.”

The criteria for the Media Good Guy Award is defined as a player who is regularly available to the media and provides insightful comments that help reporters cover the team throughout the season.

Carr joins a list that includes Jarret Johnson, Terrell Suggs, Bart Scott, Derrick Mason and Jamal Lewis.
