After defeating the Houston Texans on Monday night, there are three scenarios where the Ravens could get into the playoffs this weekend.

  • A Ravens win coupled with a loss or tie by both the Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers
  • A Ravens win, a Colts and Miami Dolphins loss or tie, and a Kansas City Chiefs loss
  • A Ravens tie, a Miami loss or tie and losses by both the Chargers and Colts

At 9-4, the Ravens currently hold the AFC’s No. 5 seed. They are a head-to-head tiebreaker in front of the 9-4 New York Jets and two games ahead of the Colts, Chargers and Dolphins.

The Colts host the AFC South-leading Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend, a battle that could decide that division. San Diego plays the 5-8 San Francisco 49ers Thursday night, Miami plays the Buffalo Bills (3-10) and the Chiefs are at the St. Louis Rams, who are atop the NFC West at 6-7.

There are other scenarios in which the Ravens may clinch a playoff spot if they clinch the strength of victory tiebreaker over certain teams this weekend.

Moving forward, the Ravens have a 91.6-percent chance of making the postseason after the Houston victory, according to MakeNFLplayoffs.com.

According to a bio, the website’s creators have worked with the NFL and uses software to simulate the remaining games 100,000,000 times, assuming each team has “about a 50% chance of winning each remaining game (with 0.21% chance of a tie).”

Should the Ravens win only one of their next three contests, their chances of making the playoffs are 97.3 percent. If they lose all three, the Ravens have a 40.8-percent shot.
