In response to Chris Chester’s hospitalization due to a skin condition, the Ravens promoted guard Bryan Mattison from the practice squad and waived offensive tackle Scott Kooistra.

Mattison, 6-foot-3, 315 pounds, has spent the last two seasons on the Ravens developmental team.

Chester is questionable for Sunday’s matchup with the Carolina Panthers after going to the hospital Thursday evening for a “skin issue,” according to Head Coach John Harbaugh.  Chester, who started the Ravens’ first nine games at right guard, did not practice on Friday.

The Ravens could either insert Tony Moll at right guard for Chester, or shift right tackle Marshal Yanda inside and put Oniel Cousins in for Yanda.

Mattison, the son of Ravens Defensive Coordinator Greg Mattison, was a collegiate defensive end at Iowa, but made the switch to the offensive side of the football in 2009.

Kooistra hasn’t played for the Ravens yet this year after being signed to the active roster on Oct. 6. He was waived to make room for Mattison.
