Suggs Rises, But Isn’t Celebrating

Despite notching two sacks, Terrell Suggs said, “if we lose, we all fail.”

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs had perhaps his best game of the season Thursday night in Atlanta.

He notched two sacks and four quarterback hits, upping his sack total to 6.5.

But Suggs was solemn in the postgame locker room.

“I just try to do my job night in and night out,” Suggs said before changing the subject.

“We had it. There ain’t no other way to say it. We had it and we let them go. We let them escape. But there’s not many times this Ravens team’s going to let our fans down and let our city down. We’re going to come through more times than not.”

Suggs was a major reason why the Falcons ran into a bit of trouble in the second half, allowing the Ravens’ offense to mount its comeback from 13 points behind.

Suggs sacked Ryan for a loss of 10 yards on the second play from scrimmage, then hit him for a 4-yard loss on third-and-2 in the third quarter. Suggs was split to the right on a three-man rush and beat left tackle Sam Baker one-on-one.

With his two sacks, Suggs has already surpassed his 2009 sack total and is on pace for more than 14 sacks, which would be a career-high.

“We’ve all got to try to do a little more,” Suggs said. “If we lose, we all fail.”
