It could come on Wednesday, or it could come next week, but either way, the Ravens have to make a decision on what to do with running back Matt Lawrence soon.

With Ed Reed and Brendon Ayanbadejo coming off the physically unable to perform list two Sundays ago, Lawrence remains the only player with that designation.

Whether he’ll play this year is still up in the air.

“We’re thinking about it right now, whether we want to do something right now or wait until next week,” Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh said on Monday. “But we’ll be looking at him real soon just to see how he holds up in a practice type of a setting.

“It could be as early as Wednesday; it might be as late as next week.”

Lawrence hasn’t practiced since hurting his knee in Week 9 of the 2009 campaign.

After posting 16 special teams tackles in eight games, he was inactive for two contests that year before being placed on Injured Reserve.

Now, both the Ravens and Lawrence know something needs to happen regarding the special teams standout’s future.

“It’s difficult,” said Lawrence. “I’m not a ‘get-frustrated’ type of guy. So I just put my prayers with the Lord and let the chips fall where they may.

“I feel like I’ve been rehabbing and doing what I need to do. I’ve been training in the weight room. They’re working me real good. [The Ravens trainers and strength and conditioning coaches] can get us back from anything.”

Players on the PUP list can begin practicing with their team after six games. Once they do, clubs have three weeks to evaluate that player’s availability before placing them on the active roster or putting them on IR.
