Prince Miller’s winding road of a young career has returned to Baltimore, as the Ravens signed the cornerback and punt returner off the New England Patriots’ practice squad.

The Ravens released cornerback Bryan McCann to make room for Miller on the active roster.

Miller originally made the Ravens’ final cut to the 53-man roster, but he was released one day later in favor of McCann.  The Ravens had expressed interest in bringing Miller back to their practice squad, but the Patriots snapped him up before he could clear waivers.

Milller joined the Ravens this spring as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Georgia.

He performed well in the preseason, as a nickel corner, where he logged nine tackles and two pass deflections.

But Miller really impressed in the return game.  The 5-foot-8 rookie averaged 13.8 yards on 10 punt returns, including a tackle-breaking 57-yarder against the Carolina Panthers.

Miller could be key in the Ravens’ special teams this weekend in Cincinnati after Tom Zbikowski’s backwards-running punt return against New York nearly cost a safety.

Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh said that both he and Zbikowski were “disappointed” in the safety’s return performance last Monday night and that he wouldn’t rule out a change.
