The signing of quarterback Marc Bulger has certainly garnered discussion both in and out of the Ravens’ locker room, but Head Coach John Harbaugh doesn’t anticipate any acrimony.

“Having Marc Bulger makes us better and our players know that,” Harbaugh said in an interview with 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore.  ”Sometimes you see guys who will make statements to support their teammates and guys that they’ve become friends with, and that’s important, too. That’s what you want to have. You want to have a team of strong teammates, and I appreciate that.”

Bulger inked a one-year contract worth a reported $3.8 million just over a week ago, instantly giving the Ravens one of the best quarterback/backup situations in the NFL.

Bulger, a three-time Pro Bowler who owns over 20,000 passing yards entering his 10th season, could probably have started for multiple teams, but chose to be a part of the Ravens as a mentor and quality insurance to Flacco.

“He’s in a place in his career where he had a lot of opportunities,” Coach Harbaugh noted.  ”There were plenty of teams that were interested in bringing him in, and we had to compete to bring him in here. He’s excited to be a Raven, he chose us, and he wanted to be a part of this team.

“I’m excited about that.”

Harbaugh said the third-year signal-caller would certainly benefit from Bulger’s experience.

“I know Joe feels good about Marc Bulger being a part of it,” Harbaugh said.  ”He respects him and he knows he’s going to be able to learn a lot from him. He’s going to make our team better.”
