Terrell Suggs has finally realized a childhood dream. He’s entered the movie business.

Team Sizzle Worldwide, the production company the Ravens linebacker started in 2008, premiered its new short film, “sisters,” in Miami Beach, Fla., on June 26.

The movie, which was produced by Suggs and directed by up-and-comer Monica Mingo, was selected in the New Visions category for outstanding independent filmmaking at the American Black Film Festival.

“I’ve always wanted to do films, always wanted to make movies, always wanted to be in them,” Suggs said on the Scott Garceau Show on 105.7 The Fan Tuesday. “But I was a better football player than actor.”

According to Miami Premier Guide, “sisters” follows Charlie and her baby sister, Rebecca, through an “emotional period of discovery, self realization and redefined love.”

The subject matter is a bit surprising considering Suggs is one of the Ravens’ biggest jokesters. But when it comes to movies, he isn’t as much about comedies as he is drama. He named “Finding Forester” as one of his favorite flicks.

“I love good drama,” Suggs said. “I love good stories.”

Suggs does not appear in “sisters,” but said he was very involved in its creation along with Mingo, who interned under Spike Lee previously.

“If you want to be a successful filmmaker you’ve got to be hands on with everything,” Suggs said. “Every decision that’s going to be made, I feel I should make them. We make a good team.”
