It was a nice story when the New Orleans Saints signed former Ravens cornerback Chris McAlister off the street midway through their Super Bowl-winning 2009 season.
Some have been wondering if McAlister earned a ring for the Saints’ stunning 21-17 victory. The short answer is, no.
McAlister, who showed well in two games with four tackles and a forced fumble that he recovered in overtime against the Washington Redskins, was cut on Dec. 8, so he didn’t get to add more bling to his mantle.
As a comparison, if McAlister had finished on Injured Reserve, he could be expected to own a Super Bowl ring, much like if current Ravens IR players such as Quinn Sypniewski, Haruki Nakamura, or Adam Terry would have if Baltimore had hoisted the Vince Lombardi trophy.
The 10-year Ravens veteran seemed to have trouble with a knee injury that had hampered him during the latter portion of his career in Baltimore.
