Originally brought in as a defensive special assistant to head coach Brian Billick in 2006, Ravens linebackers coach Vic Fangio is no longer the team after the hiring of new linebacker coach Dean Pees this week.

It is unclear where Fangio is headed at the moment.

Fangio’s role with the Ravens was largely behind-the-scenes.  On game day, Fangio was one of the lead voices in the booth on replay challenges and broke down future opponents’ offenses.

When Mattison was promoted to defensive coordinator last offseason, current Ravens head coach John Harbaugh promoted Fangio to linebackers, primarily focusing on the inside ‘backers. Mattison was largely involved with the outside linebacker/defensive ends.

Fangio is expected to make an announcement of his future plans soon, perhaps this week
