According to a report on ProFootballTalk.com, the Ravens are in line to add former New England Patriots defensive coordinator Dean Pees as their next linebackers coach.

The Ravens have not announced any information regarding this matter yet.  Vic Fangio coached Baltimore’s linebackers in 2009, his first season at the position when Greg Mattison became defensive coordinator.

Pees spent the past four seasons as the Patriots’ defensive coordinator, leading several successful units. Coincidentally, Pees was also Ravens head coach John Harbaugh’s coordinator when Harbaugh was a safety at Miami (OH), a position Pees held from 1983-86.

In 2009, New England was ranked 11th in the NFL after allowing only 320.2 yards per game.  Pees was not retained by the Patriots after the final year of his contract expired.

Pees, 60, created headlines in Week 17 when he was hospitalized after a loss to the Houston Texans for shortness of breath.  After undergoing precautionary tests in Houston, it was not deemed an emergency situation.

Pees was rumored to be in the running for a defensive coordinator’s jobs in Denver.
