Tough Opponents Take Out Ravens

Each of the Ravens’ five losses are from division leaders.

Sure, the Ravens are not happy with their five losses this year, but their winning opponents certainly have high credentials.

Baltimore has fallen to the Cincinnati Bengals (7-3) twice, the New England Patriots (7-3), the Minnesota Vikings (9-1) and, most-recently, the undefeated Indianapolis Colts.  Each of those teams is a division leader.

In all, the Ravens’ conquerors have a combined 40-10 record for a .800 winning percentage, the highest in the NFL for a team’s opponents in games lost.  It is higher than the Miami Dolphins (opponents combined record in games lost, 39-11, .780 percentage), New York Giants (30-10, .750), Atlanta Falcons (30-10, .750) and Seattle Seahawks (48-22, .686).

With six weeks to go and their playoff hopes on the line in each contest, the Ravens are concerned with tipping their own balance towards the win column.

“These losses have been against teams that are quality football teams,” said head coach John Harbaugh.  “Call them elite football teams in the league, but we aspire to that. We aspire to be one of the elite teams in the National Football League, and in order to achieve that, those are the games that you’ve got to find a way to win. You’re not going to win them all, but you’ve got to win your share of those games.”
