WR David Tyree has been released from the New York Giants, according to his agent, Michael Clouser. Tyree made an unbelievable catch against his helmet to help the Giants clinch the Super Bowl XLII victory over the New England Patriots.

“He’s obviously disappointed,” Clouser said to the Newark Star-Ledger. “But we’re confident someone else will see the value he brings on special teams and as a wide receiver. We’ll see how things go here in the next few days.”

Aaron Wilson of the NationalFootballPost.com reports that Clouser mentioned the Baltimore Ravens, among other teams, as a potential destination, but said he hadn’t spoken with team officials yet.

“We’re hopeful that Baltimore will be interested,” Clouser said. “The Ravens are one of the teams that we’ve identified that would hopefully want to pick him up off waivers.”

Tyree has battled injuries in the 19 months since his famous catch. He was on the roster bubble last summer, then spent last season on injured reserve. He did not make a catch in any preseason games this season. According to his agent, Tyree is recovered and now healthy.
