The Ravens really shot themselves in the foot on their first drive of the game.  And, it started out so well, too.

After Chris Carr made a shifty 25-yard punt return, the Ravens started out on Carolina’s 44-yard line.  Quarterback Joe Flacco made it look easy, marching the offense down to the red zone with a 17-yard completion to Kelley Washington and 11- and 12-yard passes to Derrick Mason.

But, a false start on rookie Michael Oher, a delay of game by Joe Flacco and sack from the Panthers’ Tyler Brayton pushed the Ravens back from Carolina’s 1-yard line.

Brayton beat left tackle Jared Gaither with a quick move around the outside edge.

To make matters worse, Baltimore came away with no points at all because Steve Hauschka’s 27-yard chip shot field goal attempt went wide right.

Not a nice beginning.
