The Ravens opened Tuesday’s practice without several key players.
Linebacker Terrell Suggs is still absent with his heel injury, Mark Clayton’s hamstring kept him out again, and defensive tackle Trevor Pryce, offensive tackle Jared Gaither (trapezius), WR Demetrius Williams and guard/tackle Marshal Yanda are all watching from the sideline in just jerseys and shorts.
The Ravens also do not have the services of defensive tackle Lamar Divens (hip), offensive tackle Stefan Rodgers (foot), rookie wideouts Biron Ealy and Thomas White.
Safety Ed Reed also did not have a red non-contact jersey on, but that may just be because the Ravens are only wearing shells today.
Rookie Paul Kruger continued to fill in for Suggs, while Dwan Landry got most of the reps for Pryce. Kelley Washington and Justin Harper both saw reps with the first team for Clayton. And the Ravens’ starting offensive line was (L to R) Michael Oher, Ben Grubbs, Matt Birk, Chris Chester and Oniel Cousins.
The good news is the linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo and wideout Ernie Wheelwright are back on the field.
In addition, cornerback Samari Rolle remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list (neck).
A few notes from an early full-team portion that started on the 35-yard line going in:
Troy Smith threw the first interception of the day to cornerback Chris Carr in the end zone. Carr blanketed Harper in the end zone and wrestled the Smith bomb away from him.
Harper redeemed himself when he hauled in a touchdown from Joe Flacco to the delight of the crowd bunched near the back corner of the end zone. Flacco just dropped the ball over Harper’s shoulder from 35 yards.
Cornerback Domonique Foxworth continued to make defensive plays, as he broke up a long pass from Flacco to Derrick Mason, who was crossing the back of the end zone.
